Equal Housing Opportunity
Stuart Pollard and Pearson Smith Realty are committed to the letter and the spirit of United States policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.
Virginia and West Virginia
Stuart Pollard is licensed in both Virginia and West Virginia, and both states go further than federal law.
Virginia. The Virginia Fair Housing Law prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, elderliness, familial status, source of funds, sexual orientation, gender identity, military status, and disability. It is enforced by the Virginia Fair Housing Office, part of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
West Virginia. The West Virginia Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, blindness, disability, or familial status. It is enforced by the West Virginia Human Rights Commission.
Featured towns on this site reflect where Stuart has most often worked. They are a statement of marketing focus and never a restriction on who he represents or where he will work.
If you believe you have experienced discrimination
You do not need a lawyer, and you do not need to raise it with us first.
Federally — HUD’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity takes complaints on 1‑800‑669‑9777 or at hud.gov/reporthousingdiscrimination.
In Virginia — the Virginia Fair Housing Office at dpor.virginia.gov/FairHousing or fairhousing@dpor.virginia.gov. A complaint must be made in writing within one year of the conduct you are reporting.
In West Virginia — the West Virginia Human Rights Commission at hrc.wv.gov, within 365 days of the most recent incident.
Retaliating against someone for making a fair housing complaint, or for helping with one, is itself unlawful.
